Ethiopian opposition politician Yonatan Tesfaye was released from Ziway prison as part of a presidential pardon. Yonatan had been among journalists and politicians line up to be freed on Mid-February but his release delayed because he refused to sign false confessions twice, according to journalist Getachew Shiferaw, who himself was arrested on terrorism charges.
Yonatan was arrested in December 2015 after accusing the government of using disproportionate force against demonstrators in Facebook posts and was sentenced to six and a half years in prison.
