A rocket fell around Bahir Dar city in the Amhara region on Friday, residents and the regional administration said.
Several residents of the city said a rocket blast was heard in the city at around 1:40 a.m.
The regional media, for its part, said that the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) had carried out the rocket attack. “The illegal TPLF group has carried out a rocket attack around 1:40 a.m. in Bahir Dar,” the Amhara mass Media Agency said. The rocket has caused no damage, it said.
Chief Commander of the Ethiopian Air Force, Maj. Gen Yilma Merdasa, told Sheger Radio that there were no casualties. “It was a desperate attemp of the group that is on the verge of death. They struck at the civilians, but there were no casualties. It fell in the bush. There were no people around,” he said.
So far, the TPLF has not commented on the rocket attack.
