Opposition figures, Jawar Mohammed, Bekele Gerba, Hamza Adnan, and 21 others were charged with terrorism-related offenses and other crimes, the attorney general’s office said Saturday.
The attorney general stated that the suspects have also been charged under telecom fraud and firearms laws and they will appear in court on Monday to respond to the charges.
A number of other individuals such as Dejene Gutema, Oromia Media Network (OMN) head, Berhane Meskel Abebe, a former Ethiopian consulate in the United States, and Tsegaye Ararasa, a resident of Australia, were also charged in absentia.
