Ethiopia participates in Spain’s largest tourism fair

Ethiopia is taking part at the international tourism fair in Madrid, the 2019 Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR) which opened on Wednesday.

Six Ethiopian tour companies, Green Land Ethiopia, FKLM Ethiopia Tours, Ava Tours, Wondu Tours, Ethio Land Tours Operators and Memories Tour Operators P.L.C under the patronage of Ethiopian Tourism Organization are participating at the five-day international event. Three others Karibu Ethiopia Tours, Mascara Ethiopia and Rift Valley Expédition are also participating independently.

The fair is good platform to meet partners and decision makers in the tourism sector from all over the world as well as tour operators and travel agencies operating in the Spanish market, Adera Temesgen Belayneh, Councillor at the Ethiopian Embassy in France and Spain told Ethiopia Observer. Ethiopian Airlines has four nonstop flights a week from Addis Ababa to Madrid, which offer passengers a direct flight to Ethiopia and other parts of Africa, according to Adera.

The Fitur international tourism fair has 10,000 exhibitors and expects 250,000 visitors. It also displays hotels, tourist boards, destination management companies, tour operators, airlines and other segments related to the travel industry.

Ethiopia was also represented by Run Africa at the 10th edition of the Forum for Investment and Tourism Business in Africa (investor) jointly organised by UNWTO, FITUR and CASA Africa, an event held on the side line of FITUR.
