Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki announced he intends to send a high-level delegation for talks in Addis Ababa with Ethiopia’s government about fully implementing a peace agreement signed in 2000 after a two-year war.
Ethiopia’s ruling coalition said on June 5 that it unconditionally accepts a 2002 border commission ruling that awarded disputed territories, including Badme town, to Eritrea.
“We will send a delegation to Addis Ababa to gauge current developments directly and in depth as well as to chart out a plan for continuous future action,” Isaias said in a speech at the Martyrs Day celebration in Asmara this morning.
Isaias said that Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front leaders were to blame for the stalemate and that they may try and block implementation of the peace agreement. “As they know full well that their game has come to an end, they will not refrain from concocting various machinations to obstruct any change,” he said according to a copy of the speech on the Eritrean Ministry of Information’s website.
New Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government has promised wide-ranging reforms and has already released high-profile political prisoners. No information has been provided yet about the members of the Eritrean delegation or the date of the visit.
I think there is no better way of honoring those who perished by sacrificing their lives in that fruitless war on both sides than waging PEACE

Any one here believe Isaias? Does Isaias believe his own words? Who is there to stand in the defense of Ethiopia’s interests? Not the US. Not Arabs. Not Birhanu Nega/Neamin/Ginbot 7. Certainly NOT Isaias. We have seen what Tplf did to get us to where we are.
Most Ethiopian put half the blame on woyane, and they are correct to do so.
To be honest, I’m an Eritrean in small companions between Eritrea and Ethiopia, we need to be a little bit fair, to state that what Ethiopia is witnessing today in democracy, the rule of law and a citizenship state is as a result of what the TPLF has put in place of foundation, we need to them all the credit.
Did they make mistakes? Yes, they did. But still put Ethiopia in a better shape than Eritrea, which is a country ruled by fear nor by the rule of law, no constitution, no parliament.
Eritrea is a country can any time slide to anarchy and chaos, due to lack of institution, if you see Ethiopia today it would have a slide to civil war if there wasn’t strong institutions ..
